In order to fulfil legal requirements Banns of Marriage need to be published on three consecutive Sundays within three months of the wedding.   This will take place here at the 10.00am Service on the first three Sundays of the month preceding that of the wedding and you are warmly invited to attend if you so wish.

Where one of the parties does not live in the parish of Old Swinford, Banns must be called in the parish where that party lives.   We have to have a certificate from that parish before we are allowed to conduct the wedding.   Responsibility for arranging this rests with the parties concerned and not with the Rector of Old Swinford.   In the case of neither party residing in the parish of Old Swinford, but one is a regular worshipper here and on the Electoral Roll, the Banns have to called in all three parishes concerned.   Again it is the responsibility of the parties concerned to arrange for this to be done.   If there has been a change of address since the wedding was booked please let us know immediately.

If you live in the Parish of St Mary's and are holding your wedding at another church we will need to read your Banns here and will issue you with a certificate when this has been done. You can arrange to collect the certificate from the Parish Office (click here for contact details) or you can have it posted to you. The charge for reading of Banns and issue of certificate is currently £43.00.
